Located ¼ mile away from Romany are two Blue Flag beaches - Colwell Bay, renowned for its lovely golden sandy beaches and Totland Bay, with its amazing views of The Needles. Freshwater Bay is beautiful and famous for its dramatic coastline. From any of these beaches it is an excellent place to start the famous ‘Round the Island’ coastal path walk.
Freshwater Village is the shopping centre for West Wight, ¼ mile from Romany, with a good range of grocery and specialist shops, as well as a sports centre, indoor swimming pool and library. It is also the place to start a lovely river walk along the River Yar which meets the sea at Yarmouth, the quaint village, which has the Isle of Wight’s largest harbour and hosts the Wightlink ferry terminal for ferries from Lymington.
